We're all used to racism, sexism and homophobia in the older generation, but things can be even worse than that. What if people don't believe you? What if they think you're a fake in some way? I think that hurts even more.
The other week my cousin Katie (who is disabled by ME and is one of the most wonderful people in the whole world) came to with her dad and brother to visit my mum, and my mum's sister and her husband. These folks are all in their seventies now - and what bigots they are, too.
Did you know that they think Katie is faking it? That her condition isn't real? Well, let me ask you all this: Would someone with a masters in Marine Biology, with teaching qualifications and formerly a diver, too, fake ker condition? Of course not! And she is an active and committed Christian - she would never lie about anything so life-changing.
I think some people need to consider this: Some people have ME - get over it!
