I have just had two teeth out at the dentist and, as usual, it was a deeply unpleasant experience.
However, it does remind me about a story I heard once. Former Soviet chess grandmaster, Viktor Korchnoi, one of the strongest players never to win the world title, defected to the West and became the title challenger in 1981 even in his stateless situation (he later became a Swiss citizen). In an interview he was asked if he was afraid of the KGB, to which he replied that he was afraid of nothing in the world apart from the dentist! I know what he means.
